"THE HERMIT'S CHRISTMAS" by John A. Nelson, ©2000 |
A downy blanket white, The stars above show twinkling down, Like tiny lanterns bright. Across the meadow cloaked with snow, Near the frost painted trees, From windows painted by the cold The weary traveler sees A glimpse of gold, a hint of warmth, And shelter from the storm. Good cheer and welcome he will find If he knock at that door, For lives within a hermit kind, Who never turned away, And friend or stranger there will find A welcome place to stay. So come, and knock upon the door, Come in and sit a spell. Enjoy warmth and eat the food, And listen while to him tell A story that will warm you heart And feed your soul besides, The story of the Master's Love That evermore abides. | |
